Slamalamadingdong! August Slam feat. Anisa Nandaula

  • The Melba Spiegeltent 35 Johnston Street Collingwood Australia (map)

Slama acknowledges that our slam takes place in Naarm, on the lands of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. We acknowledge that sovereignty was never ceded, no treaty was signed and it always was and always will be Aboriginal land.

Welcome Team Slama back from the US and throw your hat in the ring for the first slam of the 2018/19 season. We kick off the season with our first open slam and the first chance to qualify for next year's Grand Slam.

Featuring Queensland spoken word artist, the 2016 QLD Poetry Slam Champ and 2016 Australian Poetry Slam runner-up, Anisa Nandaula, on her Australian tour.

If you want to slam, registration opens at 6.30pm sharp and closes at 6.45pm. It's $5 to enter but you get into the slam for free, even if your name isn't drawn. If your name isn't drawn, you can automatically get a spot in the slam for next month's slam. It has to be used the following month though.

The top 12 from the season qualify for the Grand Slam, and the top 4 from the Grand Slam get invited to be on the 2019 Slamalamadingdong National Poetry Slam team, competing in Oakland, California, USA, in August.
